Spring is one of the best times to visit the Central West of NSW. Wildflowers and blossom trees come alive across Orange's cool-climate vineyards, the region's biggest running festivals hit the trails, and the September–October school holidays bring families out for long weekends across Orange, Molong, Canowindra, Blayney and Carcoar.
From an ultra trail run on Mount Canobolas to ten days of wine and food in Orange, here's everything on in the Central West this spring — plus a few of our favourite properties to book for the season.
Held on the slopes of Mount Canobolas (Gaanha-bula) near Orange, the Lonely Mountain Ultra challenges runners of every level across distances from a 2km kids' dash up to gruelling 50km, 50-mile and 100-mile ultramarathons. Expect fire trails, woodlands and open pasture climbing to almost 1400 metres, with sweeping views across the Central West. It's one of the region's biggest spring weekends for visiting runners, families and volunteers alike.
